I played around a bit more with Flickr. It was fun to look at the 23 things on a stick photos. I recognized a lot of people.
Flickr is a fast and easy way to share photos with people. I know people who use Flickr and Shutterbug. I post most of my pictures to Facebook. But is easy to post pictures and then send the link or info. out to friends so they can look at the pics.
What a great use of technology.
This is one of the most fun apps out there.

Thing 3--RSS feeds Complete
I set up an RSS reader on bloglines and then began searching for some of my favorite blogs etc. to add.
I added the Chronicle of Higher Ed., About dogs, the shifted librarian, MINITEX digital reference services, a weather site, and the Fargo Forum. This will be a quick and easy way to keep current on a number of topic. The beauty is only going to one site.
I really liked the Common Craft video clip on setting up RSS feeds. Funny! And yet a good way to learn the basic quickly.
I am learning new things!!!

Thing 2 What is Library 2.0--Complete
I completed all of the readings and watched the video clip. I must say that this did expand my knowledge and understanding of Library 2.0. Before I really did not see how I would use some of these resources in my daily life as an academic librarian.
But now I realize that this is how we need to reach our users. We need to meet them where they are instead of waiting for them to come to us before we become irrelevant.
I could not agree more with Blyberg's comment about the ILS. The ILS has not kept up with what our users have come to expect. We need to move beyond this interface to a more user-friendly and interactive tool.

Thing 1 Additional Post
To add a few more comments about blogging and avatars. The most challenging thing with the blog was just becoming familiar with all of the functions of it. We have a blog and a wiki at our library. I created and maintain the wiki and have posted to the blog, so I was familiar with the basics. But creating a blog from scratch was a good experience for me.
After I created my avatar and added it to my blog, I showed one of the other librarians how to export her avatar. This is the best way to remember the steps.
Creating the avatar was great fun. I tried to add it to my facebook page, but couldn't quite figure out how to do that.

Thing 1 Complete
So I have created my blog and added an avatar.
This was fun. It was easier to create a blog than I thought.
It was a challenge to create an avatar to represent things I enjoy.
